The Making of the Jennings Rug

Rug MakingEmily Carlson

There is a space outside of every coastal costal where things dry up.  Sometimes it right on the beach, with tall sea grasses.  Sometimes you can't see it.  Other times, its miles away.  This specific diacotamy in San Diego has always pulled me.  There is something so pleasant about spending a morning in the surf and a night in the foothills.  TIme to dry out.  This rug is about those dry spaces.  Its getting off the highway a few exits early to take back roads.  Its stepping off trails to look at things others miss.  Its a little bit of a neutral psychedelic.  Its a thumbprint.
